Blog December: MUST WATCH Geniuses

I don't remember where I found this.  Someone linked me to it at some point.  Basically a kid from Sierra Leone dug in garbage cans and found old electronics and made his own equipment....and then got to go to MIT and learn from experts.  You need to watch this!!!

After watching that, you need to READ THIS. It's Ethiopia related. Basically someone dropped off two taped up boxes of tablets in a remote village. Not only did they figure out how to work them and use them to learn.....they hacked them. FABULOUS!

In July I posted an amazing video by a videographer that I really like. It floored me. Same guy. New video. FLOORED ME. It's a little long, but it's totally worth it.

MUST READ: No Kicking Penguins

I just found this article. I found myself chuckling in that, "this is the very meaningful and has impacted my life" sort of way.

For those not wanting to read the whole story here's the long and short: A mom kicked an inflatable penguin in their hall. Her 7 year old autistic child went into his room and drew a "No Kicking Penguins" sign. His uncle put it up on his blog and it has now made it's way around the world.....including Antarctica where it is now official policy.

There is a new website NO KICKING PENGUINS.

That being said.....as soon as I posted that I read my friend Matt's blog. Matt has one of the coolest blogs I know. He always finds the coolest stuff. Great ideas. New inventions. Quality stuff. And besides that he's a really nice guy. So I found this video on his blog. It hits me because this is a conversation the youth pastors in my area have been having for a couple years now.

Part of me wanted to hold this until Random Saturday, but the way I've been blogging, who knows if that'll actually happen.

A couple years ago...maybe before Corban came home...I decided to read Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut to see what I was missing. I was hooked. I just liked the way Mr. Vonnegut wrote. I ended up reading every major novel he wrote and several of his shorter stories as well. I really liked his writing style a lot and found that so many of his books really strung little subtle things together.

ANYWAY....I came across this blog post about a speaking engagement Mr. Vonnegut did a number of years ago before he passed away.
